A well-known
houseplant popular for generations the umbrella plant is an
easy plant for a bright spot. The leaflets are arranged in a
whorl around the leaf stem giving the plant its common name,
the number of leaflets increases as the plant ages. S. arboricola
'Variegata' has the same dark green leaves splashed with gold.
Site:
Bright indirect light.
Temp:
Keep warm over the winter min 60°F.
Water:
Water well over the summer months and less over the winter.
Only water when the compost is reasonably dry then soak it.
Make sure it never sits in water.
Feeding:
A liquid feed every month over the growing season.
Tip:
Leaf drop can occur if the temperature drops suddenly, the plant
really dries out completely or it getts too much water. It will
come back with love so don't throw it away.
