Originating
from Mexico this is a near spherical cactus that can grow
over a metre tall. The plants on offer are the size and
shape of prickly footballs!
They
are a critically endangered species in the wild but one
of the most popular cultivated cactus species.Eventually
(after many years) it will produce small flowers which viewed
from the top will look like two eyes on a big face.
Site:
A bright position it loves direct sun .
Temp:
Keep warm minimum of 16°C / 60°F above 70° in
summer will promote faster growth..
Water:
Leave it alone! if its damp at all do not water it. Try
to use pre boiled water as it hates lime. Water far less
over the winter and dont mist.
Feeding:
Feed at about a quarter of the usual dilution one a month
over the growing season, use a specialist cacti food if
you are really keen.
Tip:
Use a really free draining compost add fine gravel and/or
vermiculite if you can.
