Originating from Mexico this is a near spherical cactus that can grow
over a metre tall. The plants on offer are the size and shape of prickly
footballs!
They are a critically
endangered species in the wild but one of the most popular cultivated
cactus species.Eventually
(after many years) it will produce small flowers which viewed from the
top will look like two eyes on a big face.
Site: A
bright position it loves direct sun .
Temp: Keep
warm minimum of 16°C / 60°F above 70° in summer will promote
faster growth..
Water: Leave
it alone! if its damp at all do not water it. Try to use pre boiled
water as it hates lime. Water far less over the winter and dont mist.
Feeding:
Feed at about a quarter of the usual dilution one a month over the growing
season, use a specialist cacti food if you are really keen.
Tip: Use
a really free draining compost add fine gravel and/or vermiculite if
you can.
