Somewhere bright, out of direct sunshine will bring the most out of this plant but it will survive long term anywhere as long as it's getting at least some filtered light.

Keeping it warm is vital. If you know that it's going to get cold overnight, ensure the plant is dry.

Let it dry out thoroughly between watering, and then soak the plant completely ensuring it has plenty of drainage.
Feeding
A liquid plant food every second watering during the growing season will bring the most out of this plant, including the occasional flower.
Tip
If you notice one of the stems starting to deteriorate, simply chop it back. The rest of the plant won't mind.
