Care Information

  • Site

A bright spot with diffused sunlight will bring out the best in this plant. An east facing window will give it all the direct sun it needs to thrive.

  • Temperature

Naturally, it grows in a hot environment. But it can tolerate some cold. Try not to let it go below 10 Celcius though.

  • Water

A reasonably thirsty plant that should be allowed to dry out slightly between watering. In the hottest times of the year, about twice a week is optimal. During winter, no more than once or twice a month. Will benefit massively from misting of the leaves.

  • Feeding

A weak plant food once a month during the growing season.

  • Tip

With such large, flat leaves, they can become slightly dusty in an indoor space. Wipe them down with a damp cloth now and then to provide both moisture and cleanliness.

An unusual and not-well-known variety of fig, this is a fantastic choice for those who want something different that's also easy to care for.

It comes from East Asia. In Southern China and Vietnam, these grow into full sized trees. While it can grow up to 500cm year indoors, it probably won't top 3 Metres in a UK interior environment!

The large leaves are what makes this plant special. The way the light tone of the veins contrasts against the dark green of the leaves gives this plant a distinct identity that will only multiply as the plant grows.
