An elegant and shapely Chinese Evergreen, packed with long thin leaves that draw the eye in. A perfect choice for newcomers looking to learn horticulture and experienced keepers alike. Just make sure they're kept warm and relatively moist, particularly in summer.
A very different plant to anything else we do, with the unusual shape never failing to stand out in our greenhouse. We've also noticed how quickly they grow, with their long feather like foliage creating a bushy mass that only gets more fascinating the longer it is left to flourish. A real treat for us to keep, as they're fairly rare these days.
Temperature It's got to be hot to survive unfortunately. This is the main reason for failure with these lovely plants. Try to keep it as warm and humid as possible.
WateringThey're a thirsty variety, with at least some moisture always required in the soil. Do be careful of those cold nights though, as it doesn't take much for those stunning stalks to turn yellow with rot.
Feeding Use full strength plant food throughout spring and summer once every second watering.
Tips If you notice yellowing at the base of the stems and a few leaves looking no longer at their best, it could very well be that the plant has gotten cold whilst wet. Try your best to keep it warm and remove bits of rotting stem to prevent it spreading.
Light Level Somewhere dark is best, but that's not to say it won't do well in a brighter spot as well. Anywhere out of direct sunlight will be absolutely fine. Just bear in mind that if it's in a brighter spot, it will be incredibly thirsty!
