Another beautiful Calathea from Brazil. Very bold markings on long elegant leaves. Great as a stand alone plant or as part of a tropical display.
Longer leaves than most calatheas which bush out to create a wonderfully eye catching specimen. Will reach an ultimate height of 1 metre tall, at which point it will continue to bush out and increase density. Re-pot every year for maximum growth potential and use a well-draining compost that's kept moist during summer.
You can tell when this plant needs water as the leaves will begin to wilt. Little brown spots on the leaves indicate overwatering.

Temperature Likes it warm over winter 15-16°C 60°F if you can. Colder conditions will cause some leaf damage try to keep it on the dry side if this happens.
WateringQuite a bit, loves frequent watering over the growing season (Late spring-Early Autumn) cut back over the winter but never let it get really dry.
Feeding We find little and often works, feed every 2 weeks but at half dilution with a good liquid feed.
Tips Low humidity will cause the leaves to brown at the edges. Give it a spray in the morning to help.
Light Level Will take quite a dark spot. Good for warm kitchens and north facing windowsills (Double glazed!)
