One of the very best plants for offices of all sizes. A great mixture of formal appearance and low maintenance, while still retaining a wild jungle vibe. The three stems (all individual plants at varying levels of maturity) compliment each other by creating heads of foliage all the way up, drawing the eye towards each other.
The height growth will be slow, even with the addition of the self-watering system, meaning it will continue to fit in position for many years. Fantastic for a tight spot where you want a narrow, tall plant. Even after many years you will not get much width, but it will grow ultimately to a height of 2.5 metres.
We find it looks best in dark corners with white walls, where the moody green colouration is most striking.
Temperature Try to keep it warm, but it’s definitely not the most cold sensitive plant in the world.
WateringAverage for house plants. Water when the top inch or two of soil is dry, and cut down on waterings during the coldest months of the year. Never let it dry out completely or sit in water for long periods.
Feeding It will benefit from a liquid plant food every second watering during the growing season. With feeding, filtered light and intermittent watering, the heads will get very bushy and lush and you’ll be rewarded with a fantastic looking plant in a number of years.
Tips Keep humidity up with misting or a pebble tray and wipe down the leaves with a wet cloth as they gather dust to further increase humidity.
Light Level On the darker side. Anywhere out of direct sun it will do well, but does not need much light to reach its potential. This plant is perfect for a corridor where people will need to get past with a window on one side where dappled light filters through.
