An oriental looking variety of fig, with elongated leaves that hang elegantly in a screen from the ends of the thin branches. Ficus alii is perfect for a bright room with a light colour scheme. The leaves in their juvenile stage will give off a peach tone, with red and orange stems that draw the eye in.
Fantastic for screening or blocking. Eventually the leaves will drape down the whole length of the plant and reach the floor, creating a truly wild jungle appearance.
Temperature Average requirements for a tropical plant. It will not suffer from the occasional cold spell, but in order to maintain health it should be kept warm if possible.
WateringWater when the top inch of soil is dry and never let it sit in water, especially during cold periods.
Feeding Feed with a liquid plant food during the hotter months of the year. Do not overfeed.
Tips If you don’t want this plant to drape all the way to the floor, you can clip it back during winter and spring. Do this slowly, removing only a few branches each day until you have the shape you require.
Light Level Above average brightness, with some morning or evening sun really helping to help bring out the reddish hues that make this plant special.
